Career Compass for Youth has been launched!

What The Finland started working on a new Nordplus Horizontal project “Career Compass” which will be developed in co-operation with Aalborg Institute for Development (Denmark) and Innovation Office (Lithuania).

The project addresses a pressing challenge in the Nordic-Baltic region: many young migrant workers (aged 16–30) remain in low-skilled employment without access to education and skills training. This limits both their career prospects and the ability of labor markets to respond to the growing demand for skilled workers. Over the next year, Career Compass will conduct in-depth research on structural barriers, engage stakeholders including policymakers, labour organisations, and education providers and will produce an evidence-based policy report with practical recommendations

In the first stage, Project Team will:

πŸ’‘ Conduct research to map the obstacles and reasons why some get β€œtrapped” in low-skilled jobs;
πŸ’‘ Investigate how often young people move forward towards upskilling and what prevents some from taking those steps;
πŸ’‘ Compare approaches across the Nordic and Baltic regions;
πŸ’‘ Prepare for the next stage, including stakeholder meetings and round tables to explore solutions for better reskilling, fairer opportunities, and systemic change;
πŸ’‘ And most importantly, explore how we can help these young people.

We look forward to contributing to policy dialogue and sharing our findings with stakeholders across the region.
